After Rachel Rabbit White
We found each other’s eyes
in the mirror—tendus, jetes, fouettés—
for years. Our conversations, leaning
over the piano, held
like hands. Until my ring
finger was free
to trace your throat, my whole palm
on your jaw. Your gaze
erasing our outlines, our limbs
inhaling, gliding, like twilight on a lake.
